We loved the outlandish decor but this aside the food the service and the comfort of the hotel were all top notch. We spent a week in the hotel and felt really pampered and looked after and never had a poor meal. It is clearly a big hit with the locals and gaining a deserved reputation much farther afield as well. We liked the fact that most of the staff were local people who knew all about the area and really wanted you to enjoy your stay. We admitted the flare and imagination of the hotel owners in renovating a great Victorian house and investing in a boutique hotel in a small seaside town but it seems to be paying off extremely well.

George

The quirkiness of the decor which was amusing and interesting, although I suspect not practical for staff! The unusual, possibly novel choice of different kinds/levels of dining from fine dining to a curry night at exceptionally good value for money and all in the same dining room The friendliness and efficiency of the receptionist and quick service in the dining room The proximity to a beautiful park which offered varied and quite lengthy walks in a sheltered place on 2 bitterly cold days

Keith

I liked the hotel, most of the staff were friendly and very helpful. When we checked in around 3 pm the receptionist went out of her way to show us where to park and walked through the hotel to show us the easy route to park on a nearby road with minimum problems. This was due to a cycling event. The bar staff were lovely and pointed out a special offer when I ordered two glasses of champagne. The restaurant staff were also really friendly and professional. The shower was excellent.

Helen

The hotel decor was amazing and the bed- room spacious and it even had a free-standing bath in its own bathroom as well as a separate shower. The evening meal was very good in an usual but pleasing dining room! The bar was suitably querky. The breakfast was waitress-served and had a good choice. The fruit platter was a collection of lots of different fresh fruits, cut up into suitable portions. The kippers were local and served whole. The service was excellent throughout.

Tom

I stayed there over a very busy weekend and the staff were unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. Bedrooms have plenty of electrical sockets and the mirrors are a good size and in the right place. Breakfast was table service from a wide choice of hot and cold food. Dinner was well cooked and presented and very tasty. Plenty of comfortable outdoor seating.
